Ok so there’s no denying it… AI vocals have exploded.
You can open Kits or ACE Studio, type a few words, and within MINUTES have a synthetic voice singing your lyrics in perfect pitch. It’s fast. It’s fascinating. And a little bit terrifying, honestly. And as someone who spends their entire life recording vocals for producers around the world, I’ve been watching it all with… let’s just say, mixed emotions 😅
At first, I really wanted to fight it. I wanted to pretend it wasn’t happening - that the warmth and humanity of a real vocal would always be enough. But the truth is: AI is here. And It’s not going anywhere. So rather than resisting, I’ve decided to flow with it… in the most human way possible.
Because let’s just say the quiet part out loud: AI can mimic tone, timing, and even breath now (omg). But it can’t feel. It will never be able to feel. And I will die on that hill.
It doesn’t know what it’s like to sing through insane heartbreak, or to record a take that makes your chest ache because it’s so raw you almost don’t want anyone to hear it. It doesn’t have a pulse that speeds up when the chorus hits, or a voice that cracks slightly on the word that hurts the most. And that’s the stuff that connects people. That’s what makes a listener stop doing what they’re doing and go, “fuck… I felt that.”
