a mini bio:

i'm not one for rambling on about myself, what my hobbies are or where i buy my toothpaste... i'm just going to tell you the real basics. that's really all you need to know. it sounds corny, but the music i write tells the rest.

my full name is Kate Laura McGill. i was born in Carmarthen in Wales on the 10th of March 1990. this makes me 19 years old, and soon to be 20. i had a relatively lovely childhood; nothing out of the ordinary at all. i grew up with my one sister, Victoria and my two brothers; Stephen and Nick. needless to say i also have parents (i promise), who are ridiculously supportive and lovely; they go by the names Joanna and Rory. and last but certainly not least, a best friend named Hayley. cliché; but i really wouldn't be anywhere without them.

now, i live in Plymouth in the South West of England. i love it here, which is why i didn't move away for University. i'm studying Theatre and Performance and am going into my 2nd year in September 2009. it's not what i want to do career-wise, but i enjoy it. so, why not?

as you're probably aware, YouTube has been and still is a massive part of my life, as it's one of the main means of my original music reaching people globally. i'm incredibly lucky to have such supportive fans and subscribers who are willing to travel just about anywhere to see me play or pay any amount of money for a few songs on their laptops, and for that, i am eternally grateful. i've gained over 44,000 subscribers and over 9 million video views, so it's my intention to keep uploading my music to YouTube forever. i love it that much!

music has become my life as of the last 6 months. i've given up university and my part-time lame job at zara, to literally focus on music. plymouth seems to be my waiting room at the moment...and when i'm not in plymouth, i'm in london. 

i'm writing with different people at the moment, learning about music and the industry, and what direction i want my music and i to go in. i'm working with some brilliant people, especially my manager Charlie, who's incredibly supportive of what i want and don't want.

2010 is my year, i hope.
